Nate SonnerNate Sonner moved to the Philippines in 2009, where more than 80% of the population is Roman Catholic. From the beginning, home base has been Dumaguete City, a university town with an international student population right in the center of the Philippines. The nations were there, just waiting to be reached.
Within the evangelical community was a void of biblical disciple-making, and no concept of living all of life under the Lordship of Christ. After marrying and becoming members of Spring Meadows Presbyterian Church (PCA), Nate and Jellah Sonner co-founded Christian Worldview Discipleship in Dumaguete in 2014, with the mission of making disciples that develop, demonstrate, and defend the Christian worldview. Within that broader work, a particular need has become prominent: confessionally Reformed education and training for men who aspire to, or already are in, pastoral ministry—especially in the areas of the Westminster Standards, Reformed worship, and Christ-centered expository preaching. Greatly inspired by the works of L’Abri Fellowship and Ligonier Ministries, Nate and Jellah’s long-term vision is the establishment of a confessionally Reformed residential study center to provide a quality library, regular lectures, annual seminars, and to produce multimedia resources. They are also praying and working towards strengthening unity among the few confessionally Reformed and Presbyterian individuals, pastors, and churches throughout the Philippines. |
