Carlos Andres Berrio Pallares

My name is Carlos Andrés Berrio Pallares. I am 46 years old, and for 14 years the Lord has granted me the joy of being married to Iveth Yanedith Everstsz Noriega. From our union our beloved daughter, Isabella Berrio Everstsz, was born, a blessing the Lord gave us to fill our home with joy.

I came to know the Lord thanks to the loving persistence of a friend, Enrique Leal, who for a long time invited me to go with him to church. I finally accepted his invitation and attended a Sunday worship service. That day Pastor Jaime Leal preached; at the end of the sermon, he came up to me and shared the Gospel of Christ with me. From that moment on, I began to attend regularly and entered a discipleship process with Pastor Rafael Leal, who helped me go deeper into the Word. The Lord awakened in me a fervent desire to know Him more each day.

I came to the feet of Christ at the age of 18 and, since then, I have been a member of the Presbyterian Church in America “La Roca” in the city of Barranquilla, Colombia. Years later, the Lord allowed me to study at FLET Seminary, where I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Theology. I later completed a Master’s in Theological Studies with MINST. I also pursued studies in Business Administration at the University of La Costa, which I did not complete, and I am currently continuing my training in a Master’s program with Westminster, within its Spanish-language initiative.

Throughout my walk with Christ, I have had the privilege of serving Him in various ministries: worship, evangelism, discipleship, youth leadership, and as a ruling elder. In the last six years, the Lord has called me to serve as pastor of the Latin American Reformed Church “Huerto de los Olivos” in the city of Barranquilla.

Our church is located in a vulnerable area in the southwest of the city, where social and family difficulties are widespread. Many children face situations of loneliness, domestic violence, and lack of guidance. For this reason, the church runs a community program with children from the neighborhood, where we share the Word of God with them and teach them values that can transform their lives and open up a future filled with hope.

Looking to the future, my vision for the year 2031 is to promote the establishment of five Reformed churches in Barranquilla, with the purpose of forming a local presbytery. We currently have three congregations, one of them in the process of being formed in the northern part of the city.

We also long to establish a Christian school in the Huerto de los Olivos community, in order to offer education based on biblical principles to the many children in the area and to provide them with firm guidance in the face of the ideological challenges of our times.

I am deeply grateful to God for His grace and faithfulness in every stage of this journey. I pray that the Lord will continue guiding our lives and abundantly bless all those who are part of His work.

In Christ Jesus,

Carlos Andrés Berrio Pallares
